Chinese traditional massage is a great treasure house...
Before we talk specifically of Tui Na Massage we have to understand how Chinese medicine sees disease. The onset of a disease can manifest physically, emotionally, mentally or even spiritually. Usually the disease does not occur suddenly. Between health and illness are always some symptoms such as fatigue, pain, insomnia, nausea and dizziness.
For the Chinese doctors, such symptoms indicate an imbalance in the flow of qi. The physical and emotional state of the client, their behavior and their environment will indicate the type of imbalance and the treatment.
Chinese medicine, in turn, considers the body, mind and spirit in to one, indivisible and interdependent.
Massage Tui Na is an effective method to combat and prevent disease. It is still considered an "elixir" of life...
Massage Tui Na is one of the ancient healing arts of traditional Chinese medicine with acupuncture and alternative medicine.
Although Tui Na has been used in China for over 4000 years and is still used in hospitals and clinics throughout the country, only a few years ago came to the attention of the West.
The name comes from the Chinese Tui Na and brings the vigorous nature of the practice of this healing system, "Tui" means push and "Na" means to hold tightly. This massage is based on the theories of so Qi (vital energy), Xue (blood) and Zang Fu (internal organs), and guided by the theory of the Jing Luo (meridians and collaterals).
The Qi and the blood: The essential substances of the body are Corporal QI, Jing, Shen, Blood and Fluids. Qi is the force of the life, the vital energy governed by the dynamic interaction between Yin and Yang. All the life is resulted of the dynamic interaction between Qi and the substance; this interaction finishes with the death. The Qi flows in our bodies for canals called Meridians and fills the agencies the mind and the spirit. For our good health the influences of Yin and Yang must be balanced. If the Qi flow will be interrupted, it can be blocked, thus afectando, the balance yin and yang, and result in illness. For the Chinese medicine the blood is almost an extension of the Qi, because it originates in the heart, being resultant of the Qi supplied for the food and air.
Yin and Yang: In accordance with the Chinese thought, all the life starts in the interaction of two opposing forces, but that they are complemented: Yin and Yang. Everything in the universe can be described in the terms of ying and yang, even so nothing is completely one and another one. Thus, all the aspects of the body, the mind and the human spirit can be defined by the balance between these two opposing forces. For the good health, the balance between them must be kept.
